2D1N Staycation in JB with Hubby~

Impromptu staycation with Le Hubby. Since I am left with 0.5day leave from last year. Don't want to let it go to waste so I planned a little couple trip for us.

As usual, I had my itineraries all planned out for the trip too!
Quick! Call me a Planning Guru~ Wahahahahaha

So, the tasks for the trip are as follows :-

  • Curry Fish Head for Le Hubby (coz the previous time I went with my colleagues so Le Hubby said he want to try this time round too.)
  • Café Hopping
  • Get the Banana Cakes for Family (hopefully the Coconut buns are available for Le Hubby too.)
  • Massage
  • Movie
  • K-boxing (If time allows)
  • Nuas in our hotel room~

Couple Wefies are a must before we step out.
Notice that we have identical sandals? hehe.

And......Off we go!

Look at that large crowd~

We managed to make it passed this crowd in a short period of time. Phew.
Do not worry. The time needed to cross the customs are already calculated into my itineraries.
*********************

FIRST STOP!

Kam Long Curry Fish Head
4, Jalan Wong Ah Fook, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
Opening hours: 8am to 4pm

Patronised this restaurant on my previous trip to JB and wanted to let Sam have a try but it's CLOSED! Not sure why they are closed though.
oh well then, let's try something else!

As we walked towards the street where most of the cafes were, we came across this Chinese restaurant.
So, we thoought of giving them a try.
It was only we finished then I realized this was actually the famous Herbal Duck restaurant.

Restoran Ya Wang
28, Jalan Segget, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
Opening hours: 8am to 6pm

There's a choice of Ala Carte dishes or Set Meals like Dian Xiao Er~
I chose Set A for 2 pax at RM 51.

Herbal Roasted Duck, Special Bean Curd Pot, Vegetables and Soup of the day

Bonus point is that this place is entirely air-conditioned lehhhhhh~
Super for this hot and humid weather!

 The Special Bean Curd Pot.

 Soup of the Day.

Stir-Fry Potato Leaves~

Yums~ The highlight of this meal!
Their famous Herbal Duck.
I like the herbal sauce and the duck was pretty tender.
My only complain would be that if only the duck's skin are those crispy type then it would be perfect.
Dian Xiao Er's still better though. #sorrynotsorry

But for the price we are paying, I think we are getting a pretty good deal here.

NEXT UP!

Hiap Joo Bakery
13, Jalan Tan Hiok Nee, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor
Mon to Sat - 7.30am to 5.30pm,
Sun - 8.30am to 12pm

Long queue for Banana Cake again, so I decided to just get the buns.
Just for your information, if you are only getting the buns, you can just walk in and pay.
The queue was meant for the banana cakes~

Bought Coconut, Otah and Red Bean Bun this time round.

My tips to you readers out there is,
"Please eat while it's hot"
Yum tum tum!
It really taste very different when you have it warm and having it at room temperature.
Go ahead, try it and tell me I am right.

*******************

Drum Café
39, Jalan Ibrahim, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor
Sun to Thurs - 11am to 8pm,
Fri - 11am to 10pm,
Sat -10am to 10pm. (Closed on Tues.)

For more info: https://www.facebook.com/24FestiveDrumsCafe/

They are previously known as Drum Café, selling like what majority of the cafes here are selling. Western-based Food.
But recently they changed their concept and direction.
Mainly because the boss felt that almost all cafes around here are selling western food, so they decided to sell something more local like Wanton Mee~

Seems like we booked the whole cafe, no?

Their staffs are very nice and helpful.
Sharing their history with us.

Food delivered from the kitchen upstairs using this food lift!
We called it "dumbwaiter"
This kind of lift are used to ferry items smaller than humans.
They are often found in places that have 2 floors or more.

Imagine this, we just had our set meal at Ya Wang and we are having Wanton mee now~
But they are so nice that we thought that since we are here, we should try their specialties right?

Le Hubby loved their Wanton mee.
The Noodles are springy!
Only thing lacking was the fried pork lard!
Since it is in Malaysia, majority of those cafes will refrain from using pork lards.

Initially, Le Hubby was complaining that he is filled to the brim with food.
But after taking his favourite noodles, he said that it may seems like his appetite is back....
He said he is up for 2 more cafés and I was like "are you even serious?"
I am super duper fulllllll~ hahah!

This is the bill. It is really affordable!
All that for just about SGD$4.

So, please do come and check this cute and classical café!
Nice customer services, nice bowl of wanton mee, insta-worthy place too!

Chaiwalla & Co. Container Cafe

Walked by this café, but we were really too full even for a cup of drink~
wahahaha
so, just photos to represent that we left our footprints there... wahahahaha

****************

Flowers in the Window Café
9, Jalan Dhoby, 80000, Johor Bahru
10am to 10pm, closed on Tues

For more info: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Flowers-in-the-Window/960653454011468

Continue on our Café hops~

Lotsa plants in the café. Exactly like the name of this place.

Not sure what to order and we haven't digest what we just ate.
But while I was deciding which cake, this cake caught my eye from the table next to ours.
So, I asked the waitress about that cake and we would like to have the same one too.
Turns out to be a Carrot Cake decorated nicely with edible flowers.
A little tad to moist to our liking though, but I like the cream cheese on top.

Apple + Cucumber + Basil drink

Pretty refreshing~ especially for a weather like this.
I just cannot complain enough of our weather!!

Seriously, I feel that all these cafes here in JB are meant to cater for Singaporeans or other countries.
The prices are relatively priced to be the same as the cafes in SG.
RM 33 for a slice of cake and drink for the locals would be a little on the high side no?
Imagine it to be SGD $33 instead, would you visit the place again?
For a normal but pretty cake and a drink that ingredients which do not cost much to start with.

However, it is a nice place to chill~ Pretty concept.

Then we took a cab to our STAYCATION.
By meter it costs around RM 9.

I mean, come on~ who doesn't like freebies.

I decided to stay at KSL because there's Massage Parlour, Karaoke, Cinema and Shopping all in one same building! Save all the trouble of travelling around~ So smart right?

Free upgrade!! Yeah!
See what I meant?

View from our room.

Shall bring Valerie along next time!

hmmm, no cakes and deco this time round?
In the past, for anniversary there were cakes and rose petals~ Wahahha
Maybe they thought free upgrading would suffice. NO! I want more!

Before I decided to try this Karaoke, Sam's nephew warned me that the system there are pretty lousy.
But I thought since it's in KSL too, may as well just try it out.
Have been craving for singing so much.

And indeed, only 2 hours for RM 100, bad sound system and the control key system.
Bad, bad, real bad.
Will not visit again~ ever. :(

Hmm, we seem to be covering a lot of ground here huh?
We are surprised we can last this whole day with so much going on.
Thankful for that massage to make us last longer!

Good combination. Bean curd was very smooth too.

May my face be as smooth as the bean curd~

Imperial Seafood Thick soup~
And my hubby Loves it!
Very flavorful, generous with the ingredients.
YUMS!

Braised Meat rice~
Sweet and Savory.
Delicious is the right word for it.

French Beans with Pu Er Leaves
Sounds interesting right?
But not much of the tea leave taste or aroma~
A little saltish too.

Herbal chicken~
A little too oily for my liking.

RM 111~

Don't say cheap, say IT IS AFFORDABLE! yeah~

Time for groceries~

Diapers are a must, of course!

Busy Papa multi-tasking~

Time for some shopping too.
Went to FOS at KSL~

All so AFFORDABLE!

Cute rompers, 3 for RM 29.
So many choices for kids.
