Taiwan trip 03-09Jul 2013 Part 1
I have booked this ticket way early... i guessed during december?
As there was a 1 for 1 jetstar sale, in addition i had a $100 jetstar voucher( from previous HK trip cos it was delayed for almost 6hrs).
So, in all, air tickets to taipei for 2 pax was just $396 inclusive of 20kg baggage each.
My previous trip i have been to hualien, taroke park already, this time round i would like to explore the southern parts, Kao hsiung & Kenting....
And cos it's SUMMER, so it would be a good time to go kenting, instead of Bei tou hot spring... think i'll get heat stroke....
Anyway, jetstar sort of cheated our feelings. :(
Cos it was supposed to be a 1 to 2plus am flight... so by then we reached taipei, it will be 6 to 7 plus am... just nice to travel to kaohsiung, and head to kenting first.....
But it was changed to 7.10am, by the time we reached there would be noon time....
Half day wasted, so have to replan my itinerary.....
Day 1:
Anyway, this trip was a couple outing trip... haha... 2 couples went out for honeymooning... hahahaha...
So, we reached Taoyuan Airport at 12pm. And we went to look for their 3G sim card, and gotten a 7 days free wifi sim card with 150NT talk time for only 500 NT, ok la...about 21 sgd?
Who can live without internet now man? wahahhahaa.... its so convenient, you can upload your pics to fb, instagram anywhere anytime! You can google your destination without getting lost too...
After that, we went to get a bus to reach Taoyuan HSR to go KaoHsiung. The bus cost 30 NT, which is about sgd 1.30.

We have finally reached taoyuan HSR, the journey was about 20-30minutes if I'm not wrong....
So we went ahead to get the HSR tickets to head to KaoHsiung. The station name is called Zuo Ying.
Ticket to Zuoying is NT$1,330, about $58 which takes about 90mins to reach.
If you were to take a train, it will take about 4hrs plus to reach.
Someone outcasting himself, cos he's not wearing a CAP..

But we were too late for it....
They actually have timings for bento lunch boxes... so sad... and super duper hungry.

Depending on where u board the train, you get different bento boxes...
Finally reached ZuoYing!!! CHIONG ARGGGG....

My hubby loves soup... so he chosen to have this soup thingy... like our yong tao foo in singapore...
They sell these in all their 便利商店。
Their packaging is pretty cool too.

Taste so so nia... not really nice...
They bought chicken chop... slightly better than ours... but stillllll....
Next, we head for their MRT station... to take a ride to our hotel placee....

Situated at the Kaohsiung MRT transfer station for the Red Line and Orange Line (Formosa Boulevard Station)
hmmm, actually nothing much la... and there's no aircon....
That's all about this station... hahaaa
So, next we head to our hotel, which is at LiuHe....
Its just along the LiuHe night market.... and its near the train station....
Very convenient and its not expensive...
Only $58.39 per night, including breakfast.

This is the street of Liu He...
In Kao Hsiung, there's actually 2 famous night market.
- Liuhe Night Market 六合觀光夜市
- Rueifong Night Market 瑞豐夜市
However, we were there only on Wednesday.
Every Wednesday and Friday, only LiuHe night market is opened.
Every Tuesday and Thursday, only Rueifong night market is opened.
So, we'll only be visiting Liuhe Night market for the night.
Heard that Rueifong night market has got more to shop actually...
Below are the pictures of the hotel night stay, it is really really pretty small, just to fit the bed and your luggages.... and there's no window...

Heading to Kao Hsiung's Love River next~
Love river
The Love River runs through the city South to North and can be accessed from just about everywhere. However, the most scenic part with the most attractions is where the Wufu Road crosses over the river.
Metro / Underground:
Take the Orange Line and get off at Yanchengpu (R02)
Take the exit for Wufu road and walk east up Wufu Road toward the Love River (10 minutes)
In the Mrt station~
Trying to act silllyyy... but he already is one actuallyy... oops..
We have reached the Love river...
It's just like alongside of singaopore river....
But lesser nightlife and lightings than our clark quay side....
Which you could actually give it a miss, cos nothing much to view there too...
You might wanna have a boat ride over there?
We started wandering around.... checkout any other places around to view...
Found in google map that Fisherman wharf is at walkable distances, so we decided to check it out...

My hubby quite like it. But i still prefers Dingtaifeng's... haha...
It's fried sweet potato... doesnt look really attractive though...
But its crispy at the outside, chewy at the inside... not bad neh...
Grilled corn with some not sure what sauce... but sweet sweet de... with some sesame...
A little too big to finish up myself...
abit sick of the taste for such a big portion.....
Looks pretty yummy isn't it...
But after frying, it isnt that tasty anymoreeee.....
I rather eat the oyster RAWWWWW.....

We will be heading to Kenting today. Have hired a tour guide to fetch us from our hotel to there.

Before we leave kaohisung, let's have our breakfast at the hotel first...
The breakfast place is pretty nice and clean...
Quite comfy to have your breakfast here...

Overall, the breakfast doesnt taste very yummy, but the porridge.
For a $50++ night stay with breakfast, i think its pretty ok :)
Our tour guide brought us to have some famous dessert in KaoHsiung...
Some yam ice dessert...
Its pretty common to have their home-made yam kinda dessert over there...
Cost 35 NT, which is about sgd$1.50....
ok la, about kopitiam pricing in singapore....

Next, we have been talking about 槟榔西师, and hubby kept saying wanna have a taste of it since we are there already... so yup... visited a stall and have a taste of it....

According to the tour guide, now its illegal for them to wear too revealing as before,
so their dressing now is pretty casual...
Getting addicted to it now...
Steven immediately spat it out after the first chew...
euukkk.... red red teettthhhhh...
Many taiwanese are addicted to this, it's just like smoking....
It's bad for 口腔, oral cavity?
There's this kinda ashy taste, and feel numbness after chewing, makes me feeling a little headache after that...
Nah, we all doesnt like it, except my hubbbbbyyyy....
Our tour guide was saying that, ppl in taiwan often using this 槟榔to make friends too.
So we decided to use that to bribe the water sports guys to have some discount for our water sports packages later!
Next stop: 定情湾
They were saying that from the top... probably in a helicopter, lol....
You'll be able to see that the beach is in the shape of a heart...

Overall, i wouldn't really recommend this place...
cos, there's nothing much to do over here....

But some were out of stock already.. sad.. wanted to try the mochi bao....
but no no no more.....

Never tried sea urchin before, so decided to give it a try....
Looks different from what i saw in restaurants eh....
This was slimy slimy de....
Overall, the food wise is considered cheaper than singapore la... freshness ok,
Sam was kinda disappointed though, cos he kept thinking that we are going to eat real FRESH sashimi...
really cut them when they are alive.... straight in our FAce!! lol....
After which, we head to our Kenting nightstay (MINIMI INN).... to check in...
Its a pretty convenient place and not too expensive, and very cute too...

and we suggested to have the flip over....
It's my first time taking the banana boat....
pretty scary when u are so far away from the shoreeeee.....
This was terrible... thinking that sitting behind will be less bumpy...
so we gals chose to sit at the back....
I tell you!!! this is a torture!!!
It was super duper painful and tiring.... we gals are like flying and bumping....
Last was the jetmotor ride? pretty shioks but both me n sam fell off.... cos my hands were too slipperyyy...
Its really a tiring day....
To have a washup, we have to pay another 20NT. Seriously?

Next, the tour guide brought us to a place to take sunset shots...
After the sunset shots, we went to a place to put some fire sparkles....
That place is special cos somehow at night... there's a spot where there's fire on the ground.....

Next, the tour guide brought us to a place to take sunset shots...
After the sunset shots, we went to a place to put some fire sparkles....
That place is special cos somehow at night... there's a spot where there's fire on the ground.....
This is the fire i was referring tooo...
Amazing, isnt it...
Last stop: Night market!
